Supramolecular Photochemistry! The 18th National Photochemistry Academic Symposium of the Chinese Chemical Society was successfully held in Changchun!

From August 3rd to 6th, 2023, the 18th National Photochemistry Symposium, sponsored by the Photochemical Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society and hosted by Jilin University, with sponsorship from Beijing Perfectlight Technology Co.,Ltd., was successfully held in Changchun, Jilin Province, China.

The theme of this conference was "Supramolecular Photochemistry," focusing on cutting-edge issues and future trends in the field of photochemistry and related research. It addressed the opportunities and challenges of photochemistry in the new era, showcasing the latest achievements and progress in Chinese photochemical research. The conference covered topics including Supramolecular Photochemistry, Molecular Photochemistry, Material Photochemistry, Biological Photochemistry, Environmental and Atmospheric Photochemistry, Theoretical Photochemistry, Spectroscopy, Photochemical Sensitization, and other interdisciplinary subjects related to Photochemistry, Photophysics, and Photobiology, spanning areas such as solar energy conversion, photochemical synthesis, photocatalysis, luminescent materials, fluorescent probes and bioimaging, photosensitive materials and devices, photodiagnostic reagents and methods, and photo processing technology.

On August 4th, at the opening ceremony of the conference, Academician Zhang Xi, President of Jilin University, and Academician Wu Lizhu from the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered speeches.

Academician Tian He from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Researcher Liu Minghua from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Fang Yu, Academician Tang Junwang from the European Academy of Sciences, Academician Ma Yuguo from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Tang Bo from Shandong Normal University each gave keynote speeches at the conference.

At this conference, Perfectlight Technology showcased its latest R&D achievements and technological innovations on-site, introducing the PLR-SMCR1000 Multiphase Microchannel Reactor System and other star products to the attending experts and scholars.

The PLR-SMCR1000 Multiphase Microchannel Reactor System is a continuous flow tubular microreactor with microchannel sizes in the range of millimeters (0.1~10 mm). This equipment adopts a modular design, coupling with external devices for temperature control, spectroscopic monitoring, liquid-solid phase dispersion, and other functions. It provides a professional fully automatic continuous flow photochemical synthesis reaction system, achieving the purpose of screening better reaction conditions by precisely controlling the flow rates of reactants in different phases.

In addition, Perfectlight Technology also showcased a series of equipment and product models in the field of photochemistry, covering all scales from laboratory micro-scale/small-scale/medium-scale to large-scale production processing, encompassing areas from basic research on gas-liquid heterogeneous Taylor flow to multi-channel reaction condition screening, and to large-scale batch production equipment.

The on-site consultations were bustling, and attendees engaged actively with our staff, discussing information of their interest and addressing the issues they needed solutions for. Together, they deliberated on equipment solutions to advance future research work.

In the afternoon of August 6th, at the closing ceremony, Perfectlight Technology presented a significant award—the China Photochemistry-Perfectlight Outstanding Young Scientist Award. This award, sponsored by Perfectlight Technology over the years, is jointly selected by the Photochemical Professional Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society. The recipients of this edition were Researcher Chen Yong and Professor Yan Dongpeng.

The China Photochemistry-Perfectlight Outstanding Young Scientist Award is evaluated every two years, with two winners selected each time. This year (2023) marks the fourth edition of the award.

Throughout these years, Perfectlight Technology has continuously sponsored the China Photochemistry Outstanding Young Scientist Award, hoping to unleash greater potential and inspire more young talents.
